Hi Garfield
Of course i dont mind i'll help you any way i can. You need quite a few things in your hospital bag. I was slightly different because i never planned to stay in after Ruby was born and i came home a few hours after having her but if you want to stay in hospital i would take most/all of the following. t-shirt or old nightdress for giving birth in (take old one as probably get covered in blood etc), some women get cold feet during labour so take some socks too. If you want to have music, aromatherapy oils or anything like that take them too. You will need some change for the phone and the phone numbers of anyone you want to tell after the baby is born (you cant use mobile phones). You will need couple of pairs of clean pj's or nightdresses, dressing gown and slippers. I really recommend you buy disposable pants and maternity sanitary towels as it is really messy for a couple of weeks after baby born (sorry maybe too much info). You will need all your toiletries shower gel, toothbrush etc. The hospital provide towels for you though. I would take breast pads too even if you're not planning on breast feeding as your breasts may still leak when your milk comes in. A camera is always a good idea to catch those first special moments i took a disposible one as they dont recommend you take anything valuable. Your husband can take in clean clothes for going home when the time comes. I would also pack a book or something to do, it feels like a life time between visiting times.
For your baby you need to take nappies, cotton wool, babywipes if you plan to use them (they recommend you use cotton wool and water to begin with), you will need a couple of babygrows and vests, scratch mitts and a little hat. And a going home outfit/jacket/blanket etc but again your husband can always bring those in when he comes to collect you to save room in your bag. And you must remember your notes.
Cant think of anything else at the moment but will let you know if i do. I hope that has helped a little bit. If you want to ask me anything else its no problem. Purkul can always give you my email address if you dont want to ask on your blog.
Take care x
Hi Garfield,
Who would have thought that mind bloggling would create such a diverse range of discussions on blogs. I guess that's the beauty of people ain't it - we're all so different. So glad that the baby is all Ok Garfield - can't wait for everything to happen for you both (well all 3 in fact). It must be good to know that you'll be with other pregnant women where you can discuss how things are for you and compare notes as it were.
Alas the weather today is a bit grim - but hope for the weekend. To be honest, 've stopped checking!
See you soon,
Em x
That all looks like good advice from PR - my two sons are 18 and 20 now so it's far too long to remember what was packed - I hope your last few weeks of pregnancy go like a dream - Take care of yourselves - Tone
Hi Garfield,
My daughter is now 26, so I can't remember what I had to pack either. But I do remember a lot of other things, so if there is anything you want to ask me on Mondays and Tuesdays when I see you, then please do so...I will be only to happy to help in anyway I can.
So glad everything is going so well with you and your baby.....D x
